Let’s recap yesterday’s session and look at what’s coming next!
Impact Snapshot
🟥 CPI Inflation - 8:30am
Macro Viewpoint
Wall Street's three major indexes ended lower on Tuesday as investors took profits following the post-election rally and awaited key U.S. inflation data set to be released this week.
The indexes had surged to record highs since the November 5th U.S. election, fuelled by investor optimism over President-elect Donald Trump's proposed tax cuts and the potential for less stringent regulatory policies.
Market participants are now focused on today's consumer price inflation report, followed by producer price inflation and retail sales data later in the week.
The inflation data expected today may heighten concerns about rising inflation, with analysts forecasting a 0.2% increase in the overall consumer price index for the fourth consecutive month.
