Hey team. U.S. stock futures rose early Tuesday to start a shortened trading week, as market participants kept an eye on developments on the global trade front.

Let’s see what’s ahead for the markets!

Macro Viewpoint

In early trading, U.S. stock index futures climbed as investors looked for clues regarding the Federal Reserve's policy direction while keeping an eye out for potential developments on tariffs.

Uncertainty surrounding the Fed’s rate-cut trajectory this year was fueled by Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s hawkish remarks during his semi-annual testimony to Congress, as well as last week’s consumer and producer price data.

However, Friday’s weaker-than-expected retail sales report pushed Treasury yields lower, reinforcing expectations that the central bank will move forward with interest rate cuts in 2024.

Meanwhile, earnings season is beginning to wind down, with over 380 S&P 500 companies having already released their quarterly results.
